Junior Farm Crew

Junior Farm Crew
Ages 10-14 Years Old

Ever wonder where your food comes from — and what it takes to grow it? Join the Junior Farm Crew for a hands-on week working alongside our farmers as true apprentices on the land.

This isn’t a class about farming. It’s farming.

Junior Farm Crew members will roll up their sleeves and get to work alongside Sylvester Manor’s farm team each day, taking on real tasks that keep the farm running. From pulling weeds and transplanting seedlings to harvesting crops and learning what makes healthy soil tick, participants will experience the rhythms and rewards of working a historic farm from the inside out.

What Junior Farm Crew members will do:

  • Harvest vegetables and herbs alongside the farm crew
  • Weed beds and learn why it matters for plant health
  • Transplant seedlings and understand how plants grow
  • Dig into soil science — exploring what makes healthy, living soil
  • Care for crops and see the impact of their work in real time

Each day on the farm is different, shaped by the season and what the land needs — just like it is for real farmers. Young crew members will leave the week with dirt under their fingernails, a deeper connection to the food on their plates, and a genuine sense of what it means to work the land with purpose.

Who it’s for: Young people ages 10–14 who are curious, ready to work, and excited to spend a week outdoors doing something that matters.

Come ready to work. Leave knowing you grew something real.
