Since joining Sylvester Manor in 2017, Tracy has been responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the organization, including Programming, Communications, Marketing, Technology, Education, Human Resources and Administration. Her role includes overseeing and coordinating the Summer Youth Program, which has grown significantly in size, enrollment and number of programs offered. She is also responsible for promoting and delivering educational programs for school trips and other educational initiatives.
After a 23-year career in custom publishing, where she co-owned Connecticut-based Media Ventures, Inc., Tracy transitioned to living and working full-time on Shelter Island. She had previously been the Publisher of Coastal Boating, a start-up publication aimed at the Florida water sports market and also the Co-founder of My Time for Me, an event management firm that developed targeted events for women of all ages. Using her background in publishing, she manages Sylvester Manor’s communications, marketing and social media platforms and is responsible for expanding visibility in the media.
After earning a bachelors degree in Recreation Management from the University of Vermont, Tracy received an MBA from the University of Connecticut. She has been honored with the Woman of Influence Award from the Bridgeport (CT) Regional Business Council and recognized as one of Fairfield County’s “40 Under 40” business leaders.
Tracy was elected to the Shelter Island School District’s Board of Education in May, 2017 and continues to serve as a Board Member. She is married to Bryan McCarthy, a North Ferry captain. Along with their daughter, Eliza, who attends the Shelter Island School, the family shares their home with two dogs, two rabbits and two snowbirds.
