Eden Sherrod

History & Heritage Assistant

Eden Sherrod began working at Sylvester Manor in June of 2024 in her role as the History & Heritage Assistant. This position involves the cataloging and packing of all the contents of the Manor House, including objects, art, furniture, and textiles. Additionally, she worked on developing the Behind-the-Scenes Tours for community members to learn about the current phase of Sylvester Manor’s rehabilitation.

Eden graduated from Brown University in May of 2024 with a bachelor’s degree in Biological Anthropology as well as Cognitive Science. In her anthropological studies, Eden applied her skills to archaeology, participating in bioarchaeological fieldwork, as well as studying artifacts excavated from historical sites very similar to Sylvester Manor. Her experience allowed her to assist one of the archaeological digs at Sylvester Manor conducted by the team from UMass Boston which took place in April, 2024 in the basement of the Manor House.

Eden started coming to Shelter Island for summers and weekends as a child, and moved here full time after graduating from college. She lives in Silver Beach with her family, and enjoys spending time outside, cooking, and playing with her three cats.
