Windmill Field Manager
Food, family and friends have always been at the top of Jocelyn’s set of values. Part of her youth included frequent visits to her grandparents’ farm property in Goshen, CT where, for a time, her uncles operated an organic vegetable farm. Fond memories of these visits combined with a love for Thanksgiving, cooking, potluck-gatherings, tending a garden and participating in a CSA led to her intentional immersion into farm culture four years ago. She spent two years apprenticing (one at Sylvester Manor), one as the Farm Stand Coordinator here at the Manor, and just completed her most recent role as Assistant Farm Manager at Upper Pond Farm in Lyme, CT. Jocelyn returns to Sylvester Manor eager to further hone her farm experience as the Windmill Field Manager. She also looks forward to continuing to build relationships in the community, eating and sharing good food. And, when she’s not farming, eating or sleeping, you’ll probably see her out on the water!
Livestock and Resource Manager
Growing vegetables and exploring the Earth’s natural resources have always been at the forefront of Andrew’s interests. Raised in Western New York, Andrew’s childhood consisted of growing vegetables for his family, neighbors and community, exploring the nearby waterways and fishing whenever possible. Land, forest and sea have always been places to learn and play in his mind. He loves communicating his passion for growing plants and land conservation with the local community.
Andrew has worked for years in production greenhouses and small vegetable farm. He spent three years in the Adirondack State Park where he attended Paul Smith’s College and became familiar with New York’s finest wilderness spaces. He also spent time in Kodiak, Alaska in a remote lodge as a commercial salmon fisherman before he joined the Sylvester Manor team in spring 2016. Andrew is excited to be taking his vision for Sylvester Manor’s livestock operations and expansion of the Windmill Field and make it a reality.
